Our Commitment to Research

US Oncology Research physicians are leaders in the development of new cancer treatments — it’s part of our mission to expand patient access to high-quality cancer care. US Oncology Research is comporised of a national network of community-based cancer researchers. Together, we’ve contributed to some of the most important new developments in cancer treatment today.

US Oncology Research is the nation’s largest community-based research network specializing in Phase I through Phase IV oncology clinical trials. The investigator- and sponsor-initiated trials bring innovative therapies to patients in local communities across the nation.

The results are far-reaching. For example, US Oncology Research physicians participated in a landmark trial that studied the use of postoperative chemotherapy, known (and widely used) as adjuvant therapy. This trial helped to change the standard of care for patients fighting breast cancer. As more patients are treated in a community setting, the research conducted by affiliated physicians becomes even more valuable in bringing new therapies to patients.

Here are a few facts about US Oncology Research:

• US Oncology Research serves more than 85 practices in nearly 250 locations.
• At any given time, we typically have over 225 active trials.
• More than 53,000 patients have participated in trials offered by US Oncology Research.
• US Oncology Research has contributed to the development of 43 cancer therapies approved by the FDA.
