Americas on the Waterway supports US Oncology Foundation
US Oncology employees enjoy after work social and pledge drive
The Woodlands, Texas (June 3, 2009) -- Thanks to the generosity of Américas Restaurant on The Waterway in The Woodlands, Texas, employees of US Oncology, Inc. delighted in an after work social and pledge drive to support the US Oncology Foundation.
More than 90 employees enjoyed the soirée and delicacies provided by Américas, while appreciating a spring afternoon on the patio overlooking the water. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness about the US Oncology Foundation and garner pledges for the newly-established foundation. US Oncology employees are dedicated to helping cancer patients live high quality lives; supporting the US Oncology Foundation helps to complete the continuum of care offered by US Oncology, Inc. and its affiliated practices.
Lloyd Everson, M.D., chairman of the board for the US Oncology Foundation and vice chairman of US Oncology, Inc. welcomed guests and explained the importance of the foundation’s mission. “The goal is to provide prevention programs to underserved areas and to provide education and support for cancer survivors. As we know, cancer can be financially devastating; so the foundation also offers assistance for utilities, transportation, mortgage payments, etc. to help alleviate stress for the patient and their family.”
“We’re proud of the mission of the US Oncology Foundation,” said Ann Wolford, executive director. “Anyone can support the cause. The foundation accepts pledges from individuals, corporations, and in honor or in memory of a loved one who battled cancer. The purpose is to help patients get the support they need to live high quality lives while battling cancer.”
“Américas is proud to support our neighbor in The Woodlands, the US Oncology Foundation,” says Michael Cordúa, owner and founder of Cordúa Restaurants who runs and operates Américas. “The foundation’s advances in the cancer care arena are a great contribution to the community and we are happy to partner with them in their fundraising efforts.”
