Clinical Equipment and Technology
US Oncology is committed to bringing the latest treatment and diagnostic technology to cancer patients. Our physician-led Radiation Oncology Committee, including its sub-committees on imaging and diagnostic services and cancer center services, evaluates promising new technologies and helps assure their place in community practices.

Patients receiving care at US Oncology-affiliated practices have access to national clinical trials with a radiation focus, through a collaboration with the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG). RTOG trials focus on testing the integration of radiation therapy with new systemic therapies and surgery. Practices participating in the program have increased access to new investigational radiation therapy treatments and the ability to work with other oncologists and leading researchers to advance the quality of care for cancer patients.

Equipment manufacturers for imaging and radiation oncology, and laboratory-based businesses and services, will find opportunities to test new technologies with US Oncology. Since most cancer care is delivered in the community setting, we can help equipment manufacturers learn whether emerging technologies are suitable for use in this setting—if it works in our network, it is likely to work in mainstream cancer care. We provide a structure to gather metrics on quality, efficiency, throughput, and utilization.
