Physicians consider the stage of your disease, your overall health, lifestyle and your personal preferences as they determine the goals and which treatment options to recommend.

Your treatment may have one of three possible goals:
  • Prevent your cancer from spreading
  • Relieve the symptoms caused by cancer
  • Removal of cancer tumor
Today, the major types of treatment for cancer are chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and hormone therapy. Each of these can be used alone, or oftentimes, patients will receive a combination of treatment types.
