Our Concern for Drug Safety Is Unparalleled

Cancer care can involve multiple medications administered in a clinic or at home. Patient safety is a paramount concern in either setting. The US Oncology Network ensures that cancer medications are distributed, mixed and administered safely.

Maintaining Drug Safety through State-of-the-Art Distribution
Through the McKesson distribution center, The US Oncology Network physicians have access to the latest drugs monitored for safety by a state-of-the-art system focused on meeting the needs of oncologists and cancer patients. Our commitment to maintaining the safety and authenticity of cancer pharmaceuticals has led us to adopt diligent drug-security practices.

Assuring Drug Safety with Oral Chemotherapies
The US Oncology Network physicians have the option to recommend that their patients obtain their oral cancer treatments through OncologyRx Care Advantage™.

OncologyRx Care Advantage is a national specialty pharmacy focused on providing cancer medications and helping patients understand how to take them. When patients use Care Advantage to obtain their oral cancer treatments, they’re adding a group of cancer-drug experts to their care teams. The Care Advantage Cancer Care Team includes:

• Customer service representatives who ensure that patients have the best experience with the pharmacy
• Patient access coordinators who verify insurance prescription coverage, work with insurance companies on behalf of patients, and help patients get financial assistance if necessary
• Pharmacy technicians who ensure that prescriptions are processed accurately
• Oncology pharmacists who double-check the accuracy of each prescription, work with patients to ensure that they understand their prescriptions and how to take them, and identify any potential drug interactions or other issues
• Oncology-certified nurses who follow up with patients during treatment to answer questions and help make sure they complete treatment correctly
