US Oncology Research is affiliated with leaders in the development of new cancer treatments — it’s part of our mission to advance cancer care.
US Oncology Research unites the nation’s largest community-based research network specializing in Phase I through IV oncology clinical trials. Our investigator- and sponsor-initiated trials bring innovative therapies to patients in local communities across the nation. Together, we’ve contributed to some of the most important new developments in cancer treatment today.
The results are far-reaching. For example, in 2002, we participated in a landmark trial that studied the use of post-operative chemotherapy, now known (and widely used) as adjuvant therapy. As more patients are treated in a community setting, the research conducted by our Network physicians becomes even more valuable in bringing new therapies to patients.
The facts speak for themselves:
• Our research network serves more than 90 practices in 220 locations across America.
• We support 14 community-based sites that offer first-in-human Phase I trials.
• At any given time, our network has over 200 active trials.
• More than 49,000 patients have participated in more than 1,200 of our trials.
• We've participated in the development of 43 of the latest cancer-fighting drugs approved by the FDA.
Phase I Trial Focus
When options are limited, we can still provide your patients with hope through our Translational Oncology Program (TOP) Phase I clinical trials. Chaired by our Chief Scientific Officer, Daniel Von Hoff, MD — medical oncologist and physician-in-chief, senior investigator with Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) in Scottsdale, Arizona — the Translational Oncology Program is designed to address the special challenges of Phase I clinical trials, including increased safety concerns and more complex trial designs.
With 14 community-based Phase I sites across America, we are leading the advancement of new targeted cancer therapies. Our ability to deliver the latest therapies to patients as early as possible provides the best opportunity for successful treatment.
Cancer Trials in the Community
Your patients don’t have to travel across the country to participate in the latest cancer treatment trials. The US Oncology Network offers practices academic-level research opportunities — right in your patient’s home community.
These trials range from investigator-initiated to pharmaceutical registration trials, Phase I through Phase IV — including first-in-human trials.
Physician-Centered Research
Access to trials is only the beginning. Physicians taking part in our research network can review trials and discuss treatment options with hundreds of oncology specialists. Our eTumor Boards and The Oncology Portal provide places where structured conversations can guide research and produce breakthroughs.
