Maira Simental, MD

Dr. Maira Simental joined Valley Radiotherapy Associates in 2005. Prior to joining San Bernardino, she was Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at La Sierra University in Riverside, and a Doctor of Medicine degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Dr. Simental completed her internship in Family Medicine at the San Bernardino County Medical Center and her residency in Therapeutic Radiology at Loma Linda University Medical Center. She received her board certification from the American Board of Radiology in therapeutic radiology. Dr. Simental specializes in the treatment of gynecologic, breast, lung, brain, head and neck cancers. She is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, The American College of Radiation Oncology and the California Medical Association.

Ari Katerelos, MD

Dr. Katerelos is a Board Certified Radiation Oncologist with experience in treating cancers from all sites in the body with advanced technology. He specializes in the treatment of head and neck, and skin cancers, including melanoma, and has also successfully treated gynecologic, gastrointestinal, lung, brain, hematologic (including lymphoma), sarcomas and breast cancers. Dr. Katerelos is experienced in several modalities of radiation therapy including image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), brachytherapy and radio-surgery.

Dr. Katerelos was previously an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology in the Department of Radiation Medicine at Loma Linda University. From 1992 to 2000, he served in several nursing roles in the United States Army and at Northridge Hospital in Northridge, CA. In 1998, Dr. Katerelos began his pursuit of a career as a physician. He graduated from California State University at Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science degree (Magna Cum Laude) in 2000, and in 2005, he received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Katerelos completed his internship at UCLA Olive View Medical Center, and from 2006 to 2010, he served his residency in radiation oncology at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Dr. Katerelos enjoys bicycling, calisthenics, and is an avid chess player.
